I’d like to tell you the true story of VON Italy. I consider it as a big achievement for all the VON community.

Last April I attended VOIP Forum 2005 as one of the speakers, a forum organized in Milan by Wireless, the most important company in the field of technology conferences organization in Italy. It was their first experience in the VoIP field, but they had a long experience in organizing conferences on topics like Wi-fi, Wimax and wireless technologies in general (each conference attracts thousand delegates from Italy every year).

To be honest, I was really disappointed by that conference, because the attention they paid to it was really low compared to the other events and topics taking place at the same time in the same place (and, moreover, there was lack of seats..many people were sitting on the ground, too!). Then, I decided to talk to Wireless CEO, Mr Gianluigi Ferri, who asked me to help him to get in touch with Jeff Pulver. His aim was to organize a “Mediterranean VoIP event” to take place in Rome the following year. “Great idea”, I thought.

During VON Europe 2005 in Stockholm the following step for me has been to speak to Jeff who told me that Pulvermedia has just been founded, so I would have been contacted by Pulvermedia’s guys in order to discuss this opportunity further.

After that, I got in touch with Richard Erb from Pulvermedia and we organized a meeting in London in order to evaluate the opportunity to bring VON to Italy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend this meeting, but Mr Ferri and his staff were there.

The end of this brief story is that now we have VON Italy, taking place in the beautiful Rome next October. To me, that’s an important result and I’m really proud to having contributed to this important achievement for the VON community.

I’m pretty sure every company involved in the VoIP scenario will take advantage from this event, because Italy and Italian companies are moving fast to become big leaders in the IP communication scenario worldwide and your business can benefit from this fact. So, please don’t miss it out! Reserve your space today ;-)

Wireless, Pulvermedia, good luck!
