Skype Italy will become a reality soon.
The main objectives of the new local branch will be:

• lowering the phone rates to Italy (fixed and mobile)
• getting a new “5″ dial plan for their SkypeIn nomadic users, recently approved by the italian telecommunication authority (more details here); so, no geographic dial plan for Skype users in Italy

The new CEO will be Mr. Enrico Noseda, former marketing manager of Parla.it, the France Telecom VoIP company recently sold to Digital Television. I personally know Enrico and I wish him all the best for his new challenging position.
