Kontera content-based advertising

by Luca Filigheddu on June 28, 2006

Visiting my blog, you should find something different from now on.
I just enabled the Kontera content-based advertising. Their service, called “Content Link”, automatically shows advertisement related to any word in the page you are reading. Clicking on the highlighted word, a bubble with the related advertising is shown.

I found this technique much more effective than Google Ad-Sense. I decided to give this product a try because I realized that, visiting sites with this technology, I REALLY read advertising on it. Instead, I usually don’t give attention to Google ad-sense boxes.
Let’s see what happens. In the meantime, my best wishes to Kontera’s guys for the great job.

What if I could find a click2dial feature into the bubble ? ;-)

Thankfully it's easy for people to remove context based advertising by editing their computer's hosts file and installing a css file. I have eliminated all context, banner, and flash based advertisements from my environment this way.

If you get irritated by crap popping up too, please explore the 'ad-busting hosts file' at http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html and look into adding a user section to destroy text and content based advertisements.
