After my popular post about the Mozilla VoIP extensions by Abbeynet Labs (over 15.000 unique visitors in one day…), I received hundred emails asking for Mac and Linux versions of the Firefox and Thunderbird VoIP extensions.
Finally, as promised, I’m proud to announce that Abbeynet Labs released the first version of those extensions for MacOSX and Linux OS. I just installed them on my MacBook and they’re working great so please check them out and send me your feedback. Comments and any kind of feedback are appreciated.
The Firefox Extension works great under Flock too. You can download these extensions from here:
MacOSX
Firefox / Flock: http://labs.abbeyphone.com/firefox/abbeyphone-ff_mac.xpi
Thunderbird: http://labs.abbeyphone.com/thunderbird/abbeyphone-tb_mac.xpi
Linux
Firefox / Flock: http://labs.abbeyphone.com/firefox/abbeyphone-ff_linux.xpi
Thunderbird: http://labs.abbeyphone.com/thunderbird/abbeyphone-tb_linux.xpi
As soon as the final release will be out, three different versions will be available:
- basic: as they are now, that is they work by getting an Abbeyphone account (rates are not too bad)
- popular: they will work in conjunction with the most popular VoIP services and clients: Skype, Gizmo, Yahoo etc. So, you can easily use these extensions together with your favorite service. For these (an other) services, a white-label licensing will be available.
- custom: use whatever SIP proxy/registrar you want. So, you can use those extensions with your Asterisk server or your company proxy/registrar
