A few weeks ago a young Italian guy received a phone bill of 50K euro from his mobile operator (Vodafone with the Connect 600 plan).
Why? He has had the brilliant idea to download a few divx films from the 3G connection provided by the mobile operator. After only 19 days, his phone bill became hot. Here’s a summary of this story (italian).
Here’s his plan: 300MB/month included and 0.2 cents for any exceeding KByte, that means 0.002 * 1000 = 2 € / megabyte = 2000 € / gigabyte. It’s pretty clear that after a few films, you’re ruined.
I see a big problem here. I believe there has been a lack of information by Vodafone. Why hadn’t they blocked his SIM ? Why hadn’t they advised this poor guy that his bill was growing up so fast ?
