I’ve just discovered that there is a hidden RSS reader on the N73 and N93.
You can find it under Applications/Web. After that, you have to choose the “Link Web” folder. At this point you can add new RSS feeds. I’m trying it on the N93 (because the Wifi connection) but on the N73 is jus alike.
After a few shots, it seems that only RSS 1.0 and 2.0 are supported. My blog, using Atom, doesn’t work.
I have to say it’s pretty fast and the appearance of the article on the screen is easy to read. Unfortunately, this useful application is everything but easy to use. You cannot import OPML files, that means you have to insert each RSS feed manually. Moreover it seems that you can only read a preview of the article, while for the entire article you’re redirected to the website. Available options are really a few, just the basic ones.
In conclusion, it’s fine to find such a tool on the N73 and N93 phones (I think on every N-series phone), but I don’t think Nokia wanted to offer an useful RSS reader for heavy everyday usage. That’s there for your convenience, you can use it or not. But it’s not for a RSS-dependent geek like me
Anyway, there are a lot of great commercial RSS readers available for Symbian OS. Or, if you prefer, you can use Google Reader mobile, fast and easy to use even from your mobile phone.
