News from Talkplus

Today the “identity manager” Talkplus, that I’ve writtenl about previously, has some news unveiled at CES in Las Vegas. Here’s an extract of their press release.

San Mateo, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2007)—TalkPlus introduced two new mobile products that will allow active professionals and individuals to more precisely manage their inbound and outbound calls. By allowing customers to instantly alter their outbound caller ID to any pre-authorized number, and by enabling advanced features for inbound calls, the TalkPlus system can transform the typical limited-feature mobile device into a fully-featured call management system.

“We’ve spent the last several months beta testing the TalkPlus technology and the positive response has been overwhelming,” said Jeff Black, CEO. “Doctors, business professionals, college students, and the socially active are just a few of the people who have been using TalkPlus to better manage their communications.”

For the first time, TalkPlus subscribers using Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile and Verizon can have multiple numbers for placing and receiving calls on a single mobile phone, giving them the flexibility they need to manage their complex lives more easily.

Any idea HOW this works? Are the calls simply routed through their service (as opposed to the cell network) and they are spoofing the CID from their network?
