Again, copyright infringements are the main nightmare for video sharing portals like YouTube.
Viacom announced today to have sued YouTube (i.e. Google) for 1 billion in damages due to over 160.000 copyright protected videos available on YouTube’s network.
Viacom claims that the more than 160,000 unauthorized video clips from its cable networks, which also include Comedy Central, VH1 and Nickelodeon, have been available on the popular video-sharing Web site.
It’s a demonstration that there’s a big problem here and that a big move is requested from YouTube and others in order to try to avoid this kind of situations. In the meantime, lawyers are the only happy people about that
