iPhoto vs Aperture

Posted on 09 April 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

During these days I’m sorting my photos out in order to improve the way they are shown in my Apple TV. To do that, I’ve decided to download Aperture Trial, the professional photo management software from Apple. It’s fully functional, but it will expire after 30 days.

I have to say that even if it is made for professionals, it’s really easy to use. There are options and features never found in other photo management suites I’ve tried in the past under windows.

After having installed it, you can choose to import all your iPhoto library or alternatively you can import photos from specific directories. In addition, you can choose to keep photos in the current locations or to move them to the Aperture Library.

There are tons of options not available on iPhoto so I will try (time permitting) to get most from it on my library of over ten thousand photos. Is it worth it? 299€ is not cheap, but the software seems to be really complete.

I’ll keep you posted. Any tip is appreciated.
