One of the issues Vincent from GrandCentral told me they were dealing with is that some carriers don’t deliver the caller ID properly. The result is that many calls get to GrandCentral as unknown numbers eve if they aren’t.
Yesterday I’ve configured one of the lines of my Polycom IP phone with my Gizmo account that is connected to GrandCentral. Since I live in Italy, this is the only way to use it.
Making some tests with my GrandCentral number, I’ve verified that now my mobile phone number is not correctly showed, so calls appear coming from an unknown number. A few days ago everything was working fine and my number correctly shown. Is GlobalCrossing the cause of this ?
I’ll go on testing, anyway I can say that having my IP phone on my office’s desk configured with my regular italian number, my Abbeyphone number, my Sitofono and my US GrandCentral number really trills me.
Bonus: if I login using Gizmo through my Nokia N80, I receive calls from my GC number straight to my mobile phone. I call this Voice 2.0 convergence.
