Big consumer brands like Apple are understanding the big potential of social networks. Yesterday Apple made and agreement with Bebo in order to sell contents to their community.
From Wednesday, Bebo’s 8.8m users in the UK and Ireland will be able to buy music directly from the profile of any musician who has a Bebo profile and whose music is available on iTunes.
…
The deal with Bebo will give Apple a deeper reach into the market segment of 16- to 24-year-olds, who are both keen users of social networking sites, and key consumers of music.
This is a great move from Apple that is wisely trying to sell right to the target. Bebo and other social networks are full of musicians and people who love music. But this is just a part of the story. The big deal of any web 2.0 social network is to grow their user base that, as soon as a it reaches a consistent number of subscribers, becomes a big-deal for any vendor of consumer products, like Apple is.
