YouTube on my AppleTV

by Luca Filigheddu on June 21, 2007

YouTube on my AppleTV

Today I found a new software update for my AppleTV’s software. YouTube? Yes, after about 30 minutes of downloading + installation, I can now access YouTube’s videos directly from my AppleTV.

I can say that this brings a new whole experience to my Apple-TV and to my TV, since I can find new videos everyday and I can act as if I were in front of my computer.

I can easily browse most-rated videos, most viewed, newest and so on and, after inserting my userid and password directly from my AppleTV’s interface, I can save videos among my favorites. It seems that your account details are stored on the AppleTV so you don’t need to re-inserte them again.

All this said, I think that today is the day when I watched more YouTube videos than ever. This fact suggests me that, as suspected, bringing contents to AppleTV is a great deal for content creators. The question is at which conditions Jobs&Co will open the doors of their small, cool media center.

In addition, YouTube is a demonstration that internet streaming works great on Apple TV, that opens a multitude of opportunities for both Apple and final users.

I expect to see much more in the near future.
