Microsoft to buy Facebook for 6 Billions?

Microsoft to buy Facebook for 6 Billions?

According to this unconfirmed rumor, Microsoft is trying to buy Facebook for about 6 Billions dollars. It would be the biggest deal for a social networking service.

Rumor is that Microsoft is looking to close a deal to buy Facebook for the amazing sum of six billion dollars. Henry Blodget says that while he can’t confirm it, he has definitely heard that Steve Ballmer is desperately trying to make a big splash play to counter Google in the internet game. Considering that all we’ve been hearing of Ballmer recently is that his focus aas the new leader of Microsoft is in services, it would make sense to grab the most buzzworthy free agent on the web.

A few months ago other rumors around Facebook came up, but people behind Facebook always stated that at that time their evaluation was too low.

Now Facebook is going mainstream and many people are leaving other social networks to join it. Personally I’m not a Facebook fan, they offer a lot of features and the ability to install third party apps is surely a great feature, but it hasn’t been sticky for me yet.

Anyway, let’s see what is going to happen.

I don't always need a social network. I like Linkedin and Plaxo, they are useful and they offer me a real benefit. I use it a lot of times. With Facebook, I can do so many things... but I don't have time to. I even don't like too many messages coming from there. In addition, I dont' want to spend time recreating my list of friends etc. In a few words: not enough time for so many social networks.
