Facebook, a fantastic source of new users

Facebook, a fantastic source of new users

If someone creates an application for Facebook and a few million users start using it, what does it mean? It means that there could be potential buyers for that application, because its users

All this said, TripAdvisor bought a Facebook application, “Where I’ve been“, for $3 millions. This application is used by approximately 2.3 million users.

It’s the first deal made thanks to Facebook. What I would like to explore further are the legal implications behind this deal. Whose are those 2.3 users? Facebook ? The author of the application? What does Faceboook get from this deal?

It’s pretty clear that any Facebook application gets users thanks to Facebook itself. It’s not a standalone application, it’s a Facebook application. On the other hand, the value of Facebook increases thanks to all the 3rd party developers who are bringing new applications to that platform.

I can’t wait to see what happens as soon as Facebook is acquired by someone…
