Gmail now offers 10GB!

Gmail now offers 10GB!

Today I’ve just discovered that GMail has upgraded the available space to 10GB (actually 9)!

That’s really a great news for me and for those that use Gmail as the main email client.

Thanks Google Blogoscoped for the tip, so I took a look at my Gmail account immediately.

UPDATE: other users are not reporting this upgrade. Is Google upgrading just a few accounts at this time or is it related to the fact the I have a Picasa premium account?

UPDATE 2: it’s official, Google is offering a shared storage for their services, like Gmail and Picasa. Today the above screenshot looks like the image below:

From Google’s website:

What Google services offer free and paid storage?

Gmail offers over 2.8 GB of free storage to all users, and that space is reserved just for Gmail messages. Similarly, Picasa Web Albums gives users 1 GB of storage just for Picasa Web Albums images.

There’s currently no way to use your free storage space from one product to house content from another. However, if you purchase extra storage from Google, that space will be shared by both products as needed as you upload or receive more data.
