Andy Abramson reports a Skype outage today. I can’t login as well, even if I live in Italy.
Suggestions to those who need to be in touch are to use the following programs as they are dual platform (Windows and Mac):
1) SightSpeed http://www.sightspeed.com/
2) GizmoProject http://www.gizmoproject.com/
What seems to be the issue is login authentication, not the Skype network. A check with some colleagues and friends who didn’t log off of Skype shows that if you’re on the network, you’ll still be logged in. Since this happened over night many here in the USA seem to be the ones who will be most affected.
As Andy notices, It seems a login problem and not a problem of the Skype network.
Anyway, the first thought which comes up to my mind is that if a system like Skype suffers an outage, people involved are many millions so it can potentially be a big damage for many small companies which use Skype daily.

THANK YOU THOUGHT I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY INTERNET. BUT LUCK WOULD HAVE IT YOU POPPED UP IN THE FIRST PAGE OF GOOGLE SEARCH. I WAS LOGGED IN OVER NIGHT I HAVE ONLY MADE A COUPLE CALLS TODAY WITH OUT PROBLEMS. AND YES IT IS A PROBLEM FOR A SMALL BUSSINESS I USUALLY MAKE AROUND 100 “FREE” LONG DISTANCE CALLS A DAY.
