Yesterday Palm announced the launch of the Palm Treo 500v Smartphone for the EMEA market.

I’ve always been a fan of Palm and owned different PDAs but to be honest I’ve never owned a Treo! The design of this new Treo is much better than the previous ones even if the features make it (for me) an entry level smartphone.
Here is the list taken from their blog:
· Windows Mobile® 6 Standard software
· Full qwerty keyboard
· 3G/UMTS network
· Automatic delivery of Hotmail/MSN, Yahoo!, and Gmail, email as it arrives
· Microsoft® Direct Push technology for delivery of Outlook® email
· Access to Google Maps and eBay
· Vodafone live! for news, sports, and entertainment on the go
· Windows Media® Player Mobile for music and videos
· 2.0 megapixel camera captures video too
· 150MB of memory, expandable with microSD expansion card
Treonauts has a comprehensive review. I like the new Windows Mobile UI but it seems that this device lacks of Wifi, a deal breaker for me.
Initially the new Palm Treo 500v will be offered by Vodafone and it seems that it will be included for FREE in many price plans (unfortunately not in Italy I presume…).
I look forward to trying it out and I can’t wait for other upcoming versions with Wifi included (with a bigger battery I hope…).
