Jajah buttons on eBay? Not really

by Luca Filigheddu on October 4, 2007

The idea is obviously great, unfortunately eBay doesn’t allow users to integrate external links on their auctions. You can take a look: the following auction was linked by Jajah to show an example of integration of Jajah buttons and eBay.

As you can see, it has been removed. I don’t know who removed it actually, but eBay rules are pretty clear: you cannot insert external links on your auction.

Non-permitted links include, but are not limited to:
Links to websites or pages that offer to trade, sell or purchase goods or services outside of eBay. This applies whether it is a static URL or an active link.
Links to sites that solicit eBay User IDs, passwords or email addresses from buyers
Links that encourage buyers to place their eBay bids through a site other than eBay
Links or other connections to live chat systems
Links to videos hosted on other Web sites
Links to subscribe to newsletters or mailing lists hosted outside-of-eBay
Note: For more information about logos, and links to Web sites, click the “Show” link next to the Additional Information section below.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privileges
Account suspension
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status

UPDATE: just seen that Russell Shaw has reported this already
