Jajah, YES headset

by Luca Filigheddu on October 15, 2007

Markus Goebel noticed an inconsistent move by Jajah, that is having powered a pure-play 3G HSDPA Japan mobile operator, Emobile.

This means “YES headset“, that is not consistent with their NO-Headset campaign, launched a few weeks ago.

I agree with Markus, and I warmly recommend to give his article a read, on the other hand I think that it was a big opportunity for Jajah and I praise their managers who entered into this agreement, that means it was worth it. You know, business is business.

  • In fact I also appreciate Jajah's move since I always prefer pure play VoIP over callback solutions. Japan's reality is our future and in few years we will see VoIP over mobile data connections everywhere.

The latest strategic report from Informa Telecoms & Media called “Future Mobile Broadband: Revenue Opportunities for HSPA to LTE, EV-DO to UMB & WiMAX” suggests that mobile broadband is set to explode. According to Informa’s researchers, mobile broadband will represent close to half of total mobile service revenues in 2012. Revenues from mobile broadband services will generate more than $400 billion globally by 2012.

Or to put in other words, sooner or later carriers WILL become dumb pipes - for VoIP and other applications. Truphone is already counting on that with their latest 3G optimized client. VoIP over HSDPA sounds great, and for laptop use we even get flatrates in Germany. Jajah knows that and prepares in Japan.
