VoxCall is a Facebook application from Voxalot, just launched a couple of days ago.

The main difference from other similar apps is that it doesn’t involve the PSTN, IP network only. It basically lets you enter a SIP URI and your Facebook friends can call you by using their own SIP URI, through a call back. You identity is guaranteed thanks to a test call that asks you for a PIN showed during the configuration process.

Even if not a mainstream application yet, people are now more and more familiar with the meaning of “SIP URI” and they can easily get one for their favorite softphone or VoIP-enabled device. For sure, it’s not an application for everyone, but I think that Facebook users are the right demographic. Good job guys. Now, Voxcall counts 135 daily active users and counting.
Here is the press release and follow this link to install the Facebook application (FAQ here).
