Truphone Click to Call for Facebook

Truphone Click to Call for Facebook

This is one of the news of the past couple of days that I completely missed due to my activity here in California.

Truphone, recently awarded by the Red Herring 100 Global prize, thanks to pal Dean Elwood from VoIPUser, that joined their team back in October, just released a click to call application for Facebook. It provides Facebook users with a wide set of options, through which you can choose the numbers you want to be contacted to when someone clicks on it from your profile (but the Truphone button can be addedd to messages or wall posts too).

Together with landline/mobile numbers (no Mobile in outside of US and Canada) you can add your GrandCentral number, a SIP URI or your Google Talk address.

Until Dec 31st, call made from the Truphone Click-to-Call to those numbers are free.

This is the latest click to call available from Facebook, after solutions from Voxalot, Talkster and many others.

Is it going to work? Who knows, but it seems that this space is becoming more and more crowded. The problem is to figure out what FB users really want. Do they really want to be called from there? Are they willing to pay? Are most FB users so “advanced” to use a SIP URIs for receiving calls?

To date, VoxCall counts 44 active users, Talkster 27, Truphone 114, just to name some.
