A trusted email platform: Facebook

A trusted email platform: Facebook

[excerpt]Jeff Pulver points out something that I noticed already: people are more willing to get your messages answered on Facebook rather than on their standard email.[/excerpt]

Why? Less crowded and you only get messages from trusted people of your network. That’s a big value. I cannot count the times I sent a couple of emails to people that were not responding (just because tons of email to read) and as soon as I decided to send them a message through Facebook, they immediately responded.

For Facebook, I agree with Jeff that a complete redesign and improvement of their messaging system would be a real value for everyone and could become a real competitor to Gmail or Yahoo Mail. FBMail ?!?

  • I agree and disagree ... It might give Yahoo and Gmail a run for their money ... keyword their is might ... however if Yahoo or Gmail came out with something like Facebook and incorporated their mailing system in it ... that might be something I would look into. Right now Facebook is full of "join this circle" "Sammy through a chicken at you" type childish stuff. Gets on my nerve everytime I log in and see like 20 new notifications but only 1 new email. Ya know what I mean ... there is just two much on Facebook right now.

Hey ... Quick question ... I am frequent reader .. just tend to keep quiet in the back but I was wondering if you have looked into offer updates via sms. Several sites that I check out everyday offer this ... they offer it through FeedM8. I think you should check it out. I would subscribe via sms as I would be instantly notified when your site is updated. I just seen a review on http://www.EverythingWebRelated.com that talked about FeedM8. I would check it out!
