This news is provoking a big buzz over the Internet, and it’s worth it. It seems Scoble did something that was forbidden by Facebook’s policy, so his account has been disabled. A new feature (still under test) of Plaxo Pulse that is basically an importer.
That’s a big problem… for Facebook. Scoble is one of the person that Facebook should thank because a huge part of the value of Facebook is made of people like Robert Scoble. People with 5000 friends (the maximum admitted) should be under the radar.
Scoble should have been contacted privately and told to stop that not allowed behavior. Maybe Scoble didn’t know about it. I compare this to what Google sometimes does, that is deleting AdSense accounts of bloggers earning over $1000/month because a wrong usage, but those bloggers were doing it not consciously.
What to say? If I were Scoble, I would go to FB’s HQ in San Francisco and personally ask to re-activate his account. And it seems (according to this latest post) they did.
