[excerpt]In my post on what VoIP is going to be in 2008, two points are critical for me: “integration” and “web-based”.

It’s actually nothing new, since I predicted this in 2006 during a keynote I gave at VON Europe. I said that VoIP, big web portals and social networks would have met and add value to each other.

It seems that 2007 has been the year when my predictions started turning into reality, but 2008 will really be the year of web-based VoIP and full integration into social networks and business tools on the web.[/excerpt]

Ribbit, the new VoIP platform launched a couple of weeks ago, is a clear demonstration of what I’m stating here. In addition, a powerful integration with web browsers, a philosophy that Flock is embracing completely, will play another important role in this scenario.

That said, my recommendation to any VoIP player out there is to move to the web, to create value through integration and simplicity, to create add-ons for Firefox or Flock and to definitely forget stand alone PC VoIP clients, they are becoming old very quickly and are far from where users are: on their browser.
