I came across this funny and powerful toy during one of the “Lunch 2.0” that I attended in San Francisco some weeks ago, hosted by e-Storm, the marketing company that is taking care of all the initiatives and communication strategies behind this nice little animal. [/excerpt]
Its name is “Pleo” and it’s a fully-featured robot with the latest technologies in the filed of artificial intelligence very well implemented on it.
The company behind it, UGOBE.com, is specialized in building complex robots where they mix “technology and life” together.
By integrating three disciplines-organic articulation with sensory response and autonomous behaviors-UGOBE aims to revolutionize robotics and transform inanimate objects into lifelike creatures. Inspired by its dream, the group coined the word ‘UGOBE’, which translates to: “You! Go and be!” a creative reworking of Descarte’s “Cogito ergo sum”-”I think, therefore I am.”
During the event there were many Pleos around and I can tell you that those are the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. It seems to be in front of real animals, with emotions and feelings.
