Yahoo radio ads?

by Luca Filigheddu on March 15, 2008

Yahoo radio ads?

I was surprised this morning to listen to Yahoo radio ads inviting people to give up on Google and move to the new Yahoo search. Wow!

Is it a new thing or it’s going on for a long time? I’ll be honest, it works. If I hadn’t listened to it today, I wouldn’t ever have realized that Yahoo search had improved so much. Good.

  • I heard those, too! They inspired me to take another look a Yahoo! My quick look hasn't yet made me diced to switch over, because I've been using Google since 2001 and because I still think its interface is quite bloated. The search assist feature could be quite useful, though Google has something similar that doesn't always show up (search "commit" and you'll see "Refine results for commit").

Anyhow, Yahoo! could definitely slim down its interface. They could use fewer graphics. They could use fewer animations; they could use less AJAX. They could remove all graphical ads. Overall, they could learn from Google and improve on its ideas.

If they employ all of my suggestions, I'm quite sure they would expand their userbase — I included. Either way, I'm putting myself on a thirty-day trial to see if I'll switch. Perhaps their pros outweigh their cons.
  • Erm, typo. "I heard those, too! They inspired me to take another look a Yahoo! My quick look hasn’t yet made me diced to switch over..." should be decide.
  • Hi,
Advertising is advertising, no matter where you see it or where you hear it, right?

    Nice Yahoo Movement.
