During my visits to California in the past months I attended some events called Lunch 2.0, a very interesting initiative aimed to bring together professionals, enthusiasts and geeks in various fields of technology.
I attended a lunch 2.0 at Meebo, eStorm, Cytrix and Loopt, in San Francisco, Mountain View and Santa Clara. Each of them has been a great occasion for meeting new people and expanding my network of contacts.
All that said, while talking with a colleague of mine a couple of days ago, we agreed that this event could be even better. If Web 2.0 means, participation, user generated content and social networking, Lunch 2.0 means that everyone should bring food at the event, create new food by mixing different ingredients together and leaving a business card to everyone, in order to increase the social networking side of the initiative.
In addition, there should be a blackboard where people can leave thoughts and “instant messages” that everyone can read. From this perspective, eStorm really did a great job.
What I proposed above is just an example, but I’m pretty sure that organizers can come out with more cool ideas. I look forward to the next Lunch 2.0 that I will be able to attend, hopefully.
