Twitter, please, change that message!

Twitter, please, change that message!

In the last few weeks I’m more and more receiving this kind of message from Twitter:

Hi, filos.

XYZ (xyz) is now following your updates on Twitter.

Check out XYZ’s profile here:

 http://twitter.com/xyz

Best,
Twitter

I realized that this message is completely inappropriate. The correct message should be:

Hi, filos.

XYZ (xyz) wants you to follow his updates on Twitter.

Check out XYZ’s profile here:

 http://twitter.com/xyz

By the way, he’s also following your updates on Twitter, but keep in mind that he doesn’t really care.

Best,
Twitter

Can anyone tell me how to recognize a REAL follower instead of a “fake” one?!? By the way, a big un-following activity is going on on my account, so keep in mind that I will never follow you just because you “follow” me.

  • Neenz, I would like to add that a private message introducing yourself sometimes is great. It makes you feel someone is really interesting in staying in touch with you and your tweets.
  • You are right. The problem is that when I receive 10-15 new followers per day, it's difficult (matter of time) to take a look at everyone....
  • We mutually follow each other, but I was wondering what would you like the message to say? Even if you could customize the message after following, which words would be convincing that it's "real"?

When I receive a message that someone is following me, I click on the link and quickly scan their last several tweets. As long as they're having some sort of conversation, I return the follow.

There are several apps available to help me follow different conversations happening because my twitter stream is so "full."

Soon there will be a flood of bots auto-Tweeting for businesses (moreso than is happening now), the topic you up now is very relevant.

I hope more will share their thoughts and practices.

    Aloha,
    NEENZ
