Where are VCs going?

by Luca Filigheddu on June 24, 2008

Two announcements these days made me think a lot. Firstly, Seesmic got another 6 Millions after the first 6 got just a few months ago. Twelve millions, a ton of money. Secondly, Jaxtr just received 10 Millions in series B funding by Lehman Brothers Venture Partners.

Both of them look insane to me. With 12 millions, I think you can easily run 4-5 different Seesmic-like companies, while for Jaxtr I don’t really see how they can go forward with a business model like that and with phone tariffs dropping to 0.

Can't anyone remember that Kyte received 21 million earlier this year and no one raised an eyebrow?

yes, the question is for how long...
  • Loic, thanks for stopping by. Well, I think that if in 3-4 years time you have not seen a single penny from your service in terms of revenue or built a huge community, it's cannot be considered a success. 12 millions is a lot of money anyway... I know how much we are spending for a similar service, Hictu, and to get to 12 millions it takes time... much time...
