How can you verify if other blogs/sites are copying your content? One of the assets of a blogger is what gets published on his/her blog, their originality and unicity. Ok, you can find lots of posts covering the same subjects but it’s not good if other blogs are getting visitors by copying your content (I’d say frustrating).
A couple of days ago I came across a new service named Fairshare (currently in Beta) which helps you in discovering other blogs/websites that copied your content.

The service is aimed to blogs/websites which publish their content under the creative commons license and it takes into account what type of CC they use.
As soon as you register your blog on Fairshare, you’ll be able to subscribe to an RSS feed which will be slowly populated with the posts of blogs/websites which are reusing your content. Fortunately mine is still empty and I look forward to keeping it empty, The idea behind Fairshare is very useful and being a free service, It’s open to all websites.
Another popular service is Copyscape. It works as a search engine. You insert the link to your blog/website and it scans the web for copied content. In my case, it found a blog with copied content, but it was just a quote of one of my blog posts. There is also a premium version of the service ($0.05 per search) where you basically get more search results.

Both services are a very good way to discover copied content on the internet, despite I don’t have enough information to state which is better or if they are working really well. I can only say none of them discovered a website which I know for sure it has been copying my content in the last few weeks…
Anyway, try them out and leave your thoughts. What do you think is better? Do you know any other alternatives?
