Yesterday I just came across a wonderful application to browse and watch YouTube videos on your Blackberry (thanks @florianseroussi) which is definitely worth a try.
Vision for YouTube from the company Metova (the company that developed the popular Slacker Radio application) provides Blackberry users with an impressive set of features that makes web consumption of Youtube from blackberry devices completely obsolete.
As soon as I started using it for the first time I was very impressed. Great user experience and very easy to use user interface. You can browse the results of your searches and play a video full-screen immediately from within the application. The default set of videos shown on the main screen is the “Recently Featured” but you can easily customize it from the preferences pane.
Another interesting feature is the ability to easily share videos by email or SMS (the integration with Facebook or Twitter would have been a plus). Just choose the video and select “share” from the menu.
Allowed video formats are MPEG4 SP Video + AAC Audio or H.263 + AMR audio. The first option is selected by default and I’ve seen it works very well for all the videos I tried.
My tests have been performed with my Blackberry Bold, please share your experience with other BB devices too. If you like YouTube and want it always in your pocket straight on your Blackberry, Vision for YouTube is definitely a must-have application.
