It looks like the latest releases of Google Chrome for Mac finally support flash (Chromium actually does).  This means you can watch YouTube videos or other media embedded in Facebook and in many websites.

The flash plugin is not enabled by default and you need to do it manually. You must also be aware that it is very unstable and the probability that your browser crashes while watching a YouTube video is very high. Moreover, it seems that videos with autoplay work while pressing the play button is certainly a way to make your browser die.

Anyway, this great news means that a complete and fully functional flash support is on the way and we are likely to find it enabled by default very soon.

If you want to enable it, get one of the latest builds from here and do the following (hat tip to Techsutra):

  1. Extract the chrome-mac.zip file, which should give you chrome-mac folder.
  2. Assuming you have placed the download in the downloads folder type this command in Terminal
    ~/Downloads/chrome-mac/Chromium.app/Contents/MacOS/Chromium --enable-plugins

Don’t forget the ~ (tilda) at the beginning. Adjust the path according to where you have placed the chrome-mac folder.

  3. test it out with a YouTube video

UPDATE: latest builds have Flash and all plugins enabled by default!
