Signal Strength: Nokia N95 vs N93

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

These days we are spending more time in our “cellar-like” floor where we have another living room and kitchen and unfortunately the GSM signal strength is very low there (we are below the ground). The cause is that our mobile operator works at 1800Mhz most of the time, much worse in terms of indoor coverage than 900Mhz.

That said, we realized that the Nokia 93 performs much better than the Nokia N95. The N95 is almost unusable with no signal 99% of the time. The N93 instead, seems to be much better, with 1-2 signal bars.

Did anyone have the same experience ? Any idea to improve the performances?

Switched back to a Nokia E61

Tags: , , ,

In the last year I’ve been using a Nokia N95 kindly provided by the Nokia Blogger Relation Program.

Unfortunately, in the last week I’ve been experiencing some battery issues which are preventing me from using it heavily for business. Yesterday my phone run out of battery after three hours only and today after two.

Even if I’ve been a lucky user of the N95 until now (others had a bad experience with the battery duration), I had to switch to a Nokia E61, not a powerful multimedia phone like the N95, but a great phone in terms of battery power.

I’m fine with this now, until I receive more phones to test out from the Nokia program or until I get a 3G iPhone as soon as they become available in Italy too (in June, hopefully).
