I was playing with Alexa to see how my company’s video microblogging Hictu was performing since the launch of version 2.0.

I have to say I’ve been much surprised about the results. While Seesmic, thanks to the popularity of his CEO, the enormous amount of money they received and the huge visibility they get everyday on Techcrunch was “dominating” this slice of market, things are a little bit changing now.

Hictu 2.0 is not performing bad and the difference with 1.0 is evident. In addition, other players are coming out, like 12seconds.tv and Phreadz.com. I look forward to seeing what happens in the next months and, in particular, whether micro video blogging will finally get to a mass usage or it will remain a thing for a niche.

The question is: is Twitter for the masses instead?

Look at this: Twitter vs Seesmic.

Ok, microblogging vs video microblogging 1-0. But, let’s see Facebook vs Twitter:

Where are VCs going?

Two announcements these days made me think a lot. Firstly, Seesmic got another 6 Millions after the first 6 got just a few months ago. Twelve millions, a ton of money. Secondly, Jaxtr just received 10 Millions in series B funding by Lehman Brothers Venture Partners.

Both of them look insane to me. With 12 millions, I think you can easily run 4-5 different Seesmic-like companies, while for Jaxtr I don’t really see how they can go forward with a business model like that and with phone tariffs dropping to 0.

Am I missing something? Leave your comments here.
