Share Nimbuzz Is Aiming To Become A Mass-Market Service

Nimbuzz, the popular mobile VoIP service, is announcing today the introduction of a new feature that, in my opinion, will make it even more popular and definitely more usable.
Thanks to an agreement with Rob Ullens’ Voxbone, Nimbuzz will let users make phone calls even without any 3G or Wifi coverage. The client will detect the availability of the data connection and in case it is not present, it will automatically dial a local number to put the user in touch with the called contact. Nimbuzz will determine the right number to dial and over 50 countries are currently supported.
It is definitely a big step forward that lets Nimbuzz become a truly mass-market application. There is still something missing, though, that is the ability to use it with a standard, old generation phone, without any internet connection available. In this case it would let users do what services like Rebtel and Jajah Direct are doing already and that I have the opportunity to use anytime I stay in the US, that is the ability to assign a local number to most-called people and put them at your fingertips in your address-book. Really straightforward and very cheap.
